NHS Under Pressure: A look at the recent BBC Newscast episode about the NHS
Not long after Labour won the General Election, Wes Streeting asked Lord Darzi to look into the state of the National Health Service. His findings came out this month and was understandably a big news story! And will undeniably have an impact on the workforce of the country's much beloved institution.
As always, the BBC Newscast podcast team dived into the findings as soon as possible. It was a great discussion that sheds light on the current state of healthcare and the potential future of this institution so close to the heart of the nation.
We’re big fans of Newscast and this episode is particularly close to our own hearts here at Engage Care Talent! Here are some of the main topics covered,

- The NHS is implementing quick fixes, including thousands of extra appointments each week, in an attempt to reduce waiting lists.
- A significant development is expected in spring with the announcement of a 10-year plan for the NHS.
- Winter is coming and it is anticipated to be particularly challenging for the NHS.
- Contrary to expectations, improvements in medical technology and healthcare have not led to a healthier population.
